Where it's at: FenCon 2004 is being held at the Holiday Inn Select (North Dallas) in Dallas, Texas. For directions, a map, and more information, visit our hotel page and read all about this fine facility. See you there!

They like us! They really like us!: Thanks to our pals at the Dallas Morning News for making FenCon a "Guide Pick" in their weekly entertainment guide. See it in Friday's paper or online at GuideLive.com now.

A place for your head: Have you booked your hotel room yet? Our room block is "officially" closed but the hotel has assured us that the low FenCon room rate is still available as long as they have rooms. You must mention "FenCon" when you book the room to get our special rate. Thanks for helping us with our room block, you guys. (You're the best!) Click and read our hotel page for all the details.

Guest Spotlight

Each week leading up to FenCon 2004 we will feature a different guest here on our homepage. Learn more about all of our guests on the Guests page.

Guest of Honor: Larry Niven

(LarryNiven.org) Larry Niven, a Los Angeles native, has been a full-time writer since 1963. With over three dozen novels, a dozen short-story collections in print, and a small fleet of Hugo award rockets, he is one of the living legends of science fiction.

From the tales of known space to the Ringworld saga to the Man-Kzin wars, Larry Niven has created a memorable universe as his legacy. He has an astounding nineteen Hugo nominations and five wins (so far) plus eight Nebula nominations and one win.

His latest novel, Ringworld's Children, was released in June 2004 by Tor Books. FenCon is thrilled and excited to have Larry Niven as our first guest of honor.

Larry Niven. Wow. LARRY NIVEN!

Guest Update: FenCon is proud to welcome Ardath Mayhar to our guest lineup for a rare convention appearance. Ardath has published over 60 books and lives in Nacogdoches. We regret to announce that Windbourne had to cancel their appearance due to medical problems. Patricia Anthony sends her regrets but will not be able to attend due to an illness in the family. Ron DiLulio has had personal problems crop up at the last minute, Renee Brown has fallen ill, and John Steakley has a family emergency. FenCon sends good thoughts and we hope to see these folks next year in better circumstances. See guest photos and bios on the updated Guests page.

Party

Thank you, Metroplex: Did you see us in August at Armadillocon? Did you see us in July at Conestoga 8 in Tulsa or Sci-Fi Expo in Dallas? How about in June at Roc*Kon or back in February at ConDFW? Did you get to meet Joe Dalek? Then bask in the warm glow of memory by visiting our photo-packed Armadillocon 26, Conestoga 8, Sci-Fi Expo 2004, Roc*Kon 2004, ConDFW 2004, and ConDFW 2003 Room Party pages. We've been throwing room parties at many regional conventions leading up to FenCon 2004. Now we hope you'll come party with us in Dallas.

Spread the Word: Are you heading to a convention or a club meeting? Do you have a bulletin board at work or school? We've updated our convention flyer and we need you to help us let people know about FenCon. Two versions, one for the web and the other for printing, can be found on our publications page.
