FenCon Writers Workshop

FenCon 2010 Writers Workshop

featuring Jessica Wade

The 2010 FenCon Writers Workshop featuring Ace Books editor Jessica Wade is now completely sold out.

FenCon and the Dallas Future Society are happy to announce that our sixth annual Writers Workshop will be hosted by Ace/Roc Books Editor, Jessica Wade. We are thrilled to welcome her as our Special Guest instructor for 2010.

This year's workshop will focus on novel proposals. Participants will work with Jessica as a group to review and critique each participant's submission. Workshop members will also participate in a final session focusing on the business of publishing.

If you are a participant, there are a few things you should know:

Writers Workshop Schedule:

  • Friday: begins at 8:00am, ends at noon
  • Saturday: begins at 9:00am, ends at 1:00pm
  • Sunday: begins at 10:00am, ends at noon

Only novel proposals in the science fiction, fantasy, or horror genres will be accepted for review. Submissions will consist of the first few chapters, totaling no more than 5000 words, and a brief plot summary of the novel. A chapter-by-chapter outline is NOT required.

Participants will be given the details on how and where to submit their proposal for the instructor's personal review after your workshop registration is processed. They will also receive an invitation to join an online discussion group with other workshop participants. This group will allow you to ask questions and discuss the workshop requirements. It will also give the participants a chance to get to know each other prior to the workshop. Please join this group when invited! ALL workshop instructions will be communicated via the online group.

If you have any questions or comments about this workshop, please e-mail workshop@fencon.org.
